The Systems Administrator will lead the planning, build out, and maintenance of the CradlePoint IT infrastructure.  Primary responsibilities include hardware and software support of onsite and offsite physical and virtual servers, operating system maintenance and support, application software maintenance and support, and network infrastructure maintenance and support. Additional primary responsibilities include coordinating with various departments within the organization to continuously design and implement improvements with the distributed IT infrastructure, supporting and enabling the organization’s business ventures.  This person will also be responsible for developing, mentoring and training other IT staff.  Secondary responsibilities include potentially assisting engineering and operations teams with maintaining customer facing services and applications, as well as mentoring junior system administrators on the team.  The successful candidate must be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, possess excellent analytical and communication skills, and be a team player.  Occasional user support and on call duties will be necessary as required.


  • Lead the design, implementation, and support of LAN and WAN infrastructure
  • Primary support of onsite and offsite network hardware
  • Work with all departments within the organization to continuously design and implement system improvements
  • Monitor and update IT systems with the latest software patches and updates
  • Provide Tier II tech support for the Cradlepoint Corporate Help Desk
  • Monitor system logs and services to ensure system performance and availability meet our corporate SLA
  • Work closely with our Help Desk staff to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues reported to the Corporate Help Desk
  • When needed assist with support of onsite and offsite physical and virtual servers
  • When needed, assist our Engineering and Operations teams with maintaining customer facing services and applications
  • Mentor Help Desk staff and junior System Administrators on the team
  • Occasional user support and availability after normal business hours will be necessary as required


  • At least 6 years of experience in the networking field of Information Technology
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, sub-netting, etc.) and protocols
  • Experience with remote access technologies (VPN, terminal services, etc.)
  • Experience with network switches and routers – Juniper preferred
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining firewalls – Sophos preferred
  • Experience scripting in Windows/Linux utilizing PowerCLI, Perl, Python, and Bash
  • Experience with wireless (Wi-Fi) technologies – Aruba preferred
  • Experience with SAN management of Dell Equallogic and Netapp systems
  • Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware and Open Stack
  • Experience with the following Microsoft technologies preferred:
    • Active Directory
    • Exchange Server
    • Microsoft Server 2003/2008/2012
    • IIS 6/7
    • Office 365
    • SharePoint
  • It would be helpful to have experience with VoIP communications - Mitel preferred
  • Linux (Ubuntu / Redhat / CentOS) experience would be helpful


  • A degree or equivalent diploma or years of experience in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study
  • Relevant industry certifications including, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, Microsoft MCSE or MCITP, and VMware VC
