Overview

Cradlepoint is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator with program management skills to join the Infrastructure and Security team. The Systems Administrator will lead the planning, build out, and maintenance of the Cradlepoint IT infrastructure and telecommunications. Primary responsibilities include maintenance and support for hardware and software of onsite and offsite physical and virtual servers, operating systems, application software, telecommunications and network infrastructure. Additional primary responsibilities include coordinating with various departments within the organization to continuously design and implement improvements with the distributed IT infrastructure, supporting and enabling the organization’s business ventures. This person will also be responsible for developing, mentoring and training other IT staff. Secondary responsibilities include potentially assisting engineering and operations teams with maintaining customer facing services and applications.

 

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, require minimal supervision, possess excellent analytical, communication and program management skills, and be a team player. Occasional user support and on call duties will be necessary as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and support of network infrastructure
  • Primary support of onsite and offsite network hardware
  • Work with all departments at Cradlepoint to continuously design and implement improvements
  • Monitor and update IT systems with the latest software patches and updates
  • Provide Tier II tech support for the Cradlepoint Corporate Help Desk
  • Monitor system logs and services to ensure system performance and availability 
  • Work closely with our Help Desk staff to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues 
  • Assist with support of onsite and offsite physical and virtual servers
  • Assist our Engineering and Operations teams with maintaining customer facing services and applications
  • Mentor Help Desk staff and junior System Administrators on the team
  • Occasional user support and availability after normal business hours will be necessary as required
  • Manage hardware and software inventory, purchases and renewals for Cradlepoint employee equipment
  • Work with vendors to research and identify solutions for infrastructure improvements and maintenance

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in the networking field of Information Technology
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, sub-netting, etc.) and protocols
  • Experience with remote access technologies (VPN, terminal services, etc.)
  • Experience with network switches and routers
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining firewalls 
  • Experience scripting in Windows/Linux utilizing PowerCLI, Perl, Python, and Bash
  • Experience with wireless (Wi-Fi) technologies
  • Experience with SAN management and backup strategies for corporate domains
  • Experience with virtualization technologies including VMware and Open Stack
  • Experience with the following Microsoft technologies preferred:
  • Active Directory,Exchange Server, Microsoft Server 2012,IIS 6/7,SMTP,SNMP / WMI,Office 365,Azure, Dynamics, SharePoint
  • Experience with telecommunications systems design and support in an enterprise environment

Education:

  • A degree or equivalent diploma or years of experience in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study
  • Relevant industry certifications including, CompTIA A+/Network+, Cisco CCENT/CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIE-ENT, Microsoft MCSE or MCITP, and VMware VC
